Fundraising Manager - Impact Partnerships & Social Value

At the Centre for Energy Equality, we believe that everyone
deserves access to affordable, sustainable energy. Through innovative projects and partnerships, we aim to support vulnerable communities, drive decarbonisation, and create equitable energy solutions that leave no one behind.

Our flagship platform, ‘Fairer Warmth’, provides a novel approach to connecting vulnerable households with energy-saving advice, financial support, and practical interventions.

The Role

We are seeking a dynamic and results-driven Fundraising Manager to join our passionate team. This pivotal role will be instrumental in expanding our reach and impact by forging strategic partnerships and securing new leads with businesses wishing to make social value impact. You will be responsible for identifying, engaging, and securing “Impact Partners” – organisations that align with our mission and can amplify the reach and effectiveness of our Fairer Warmth approach by sponsoring a network of ‘Energy Champions’ delivering social value within the communities that they serve.

  • Partnership Development:
    • Identify, research, and prospect potential Impact Partners, including but not limited to:
      • Businesses and corporations with CSR and ESG goals
      • Philanthropic donors
      • Energy suppliers and distributors
      • Charitable foundations and trusts
      • Local authorities and central government
    • Develop and nurture strong relationships with key stakeholders within prospective partner organisations.
    • Lead negotiations and secure formal partnerships
    • Develop bespoke proposals and presentations tailored to the needs and objectives of potential partners.
    • Monitor and evaluate the success of partnerships, identifying opportunities for growth and optimisation.
 
  • Social Value Lead Generation:
    • Proactively identify social value opportunities within public sector procurement (particularly local authorities) and large energy infrastructure projects.
    • Collaborate with local authorities to understand their energy poverty challenges and co-create solutions leveraging the Fairer Warmth toolk and CEE’s expertise.
    • Develop compelling propositions that demonstrate how partnerships with CEE and the Fairer Warmth app can deliver tangible social value outcomes (e.g., fuel poverty reduction, energy efficiency improvements, community engagement).
    • Attend relevant industry events, conferences, and networking functions to generate leads and build a strong professional network.
 
  • Sales & Outreach:
    • Develop and execute a robust business development strategy to achieve ambitious partnership and social value targets.
    • Present the value proposition of Centre for Energy Equality and the Fairer Warmth app to diverse audiences.
    • Maintain a robust CRM system to track all leads, opportunities, and partnership progress.
    • Collaborate closely with the wider CEE team, including product development, marketing, and operations, to ensure seamless integration of partnerships.

You will have a passion for social value and sustainability.

  • Extensive Experience: A minimum of 4 years of experience in fundraising, business development, sales, or partnership management.
  • Sector Knowledge and Network:
    • Demonstrable background and connections within Businesses and Philanthropic donors investing in social value and low carbon. 
    • Energy sector (e.g., energy suppliers, distributors, energy efficiency providers, consultancies).
    • Strong understanding of and existing relationships with local authorities across the UK, particularly in relation to social housing, community services, or environmental initiatives.
    • Experience in identifying and securing social value opportunities.
  • Sales Acumen: Proven ability to identify, prospect, pitch, negotiate, and close complex partnerships and sales opportunities.
  • Networking & Relationship Building: Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build rapport and trust with diverse stakeholders at all levels.
  • Strategic Thinker: Ability to identify market trends, analyse opportunities, and develop strategic approaches to partnership development.
  • Passionate about Social Impact: A genuine commitment to addressing energy inequality and making a positive difference in communities.
  • Self-Starter: Highly organised, self-motivated, and able to work independently to achieve targets.
  • Excellent Communication: Superb written and verbal communication skills, including presentation and negotiation abilities.
  • IT Proficiency: Proficient in CRM software (e.g., ClickUp, AzureDevOps) and Microsoft Office Suite.

Salary £35,000-£60,000 depending on experience

Full Stack Developer

As a Full Stack Developer at CEE you will help develop scalable software solutions that deliver real benefits to global societies, ensuring that no one is left behind in the transition to green energy.

You should be comfortable around both front-end and back-end coding languages, development frameworks and third-party libraries. You should also be a team player with a knack for visual design and utility.

Energy Systems Specialist

Our Projects and Innovation Team are leading a variety of exciting and valuable projects.  For example, designing a mobile solar battery system to bring  energy to rural African communities,  testing systems that can reinstate power supplies for medically vulnerable people during power cuts, and developing software that helps communities meet their net zero ambitions.

In the role of Energy Systems Specialist, you will have the opportunity to utilise your knowledge of energy systems to deliver real benefits to global societies, ensuring that no one is left behind in the transition to green energy.

    • Support the design, specification and implementation of solar PV, battery-storage
      and decentralised energy systems appropriate to different community and productive-use applications.
    • Undertake technical assessments, system sizing, energy-demand analysis and techno-economic modelling to inform project design and investment decisions.
    • Develop and review technical specifications, bills of materials, equipment requirements and other technical documentation.
    • Support the procurement and evaluation of energy-system components and equipment, working with suppliers, technology providers and local delivery partners.
    • Provide technical oversight and support during system installation, testing and commissioning, including working with local EPCs and other contractors.
    • Support the integration of energy technologies and productive-use applications, which may include electric mobility, battery-swapping systems and other emerging technologies.
    • Analyse technical and operational data to assess system performance, identify issues and support continuous improvement.
    • Work with colleagues and project partners to develop sustainable operational and business models for decentralised energy systems.
    • Provide technical input into project plans, feasibility studies, reports, funding applications and bids.
    • Work collaboratively with international partners, local technical teams, communities and other stakeholders to ensure solutions are appropriate to the local operating environment.
    • Contribute to capacity building and knowledge transfer with project partners and local organisations.
    • Represent Centre for Energy Equality in technical project meetings and, where required, during international project visits.
    • Work closely with CEE’s Software, Analysis, Product Development and Project Management teams.

Essential

  • Professional experience in renewable energy, energy systems, electrical/mechanical engineering or a closely related field.
  • Practical experience of designing, developing, implementing or supporting renewable or decentralised energy systems.
  • Good technical understanding of solar PV, battery energy storage and associated electrical energy systems.
  • Experience undertaking technical analysis such as system sizing, energy-demand assessment, performance analysis or techno-economic modelling.
  • Ability to translate technical requirements into practical system designs, specifications or implementation plans.
  • Experience working with suppliers, contractors, EPCs or other technical delivery partners.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and resolve technical issues during project delivery.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts clearly to non-specialist colleagues and partners.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver high-quality work within project deadlines and budgets.
  • An interest in energy access, energy equity and the role of decentralised energy systems in supporting underserved communities.
  • Willingness to travel internationally as required.
 

Desirable

We do not expect candidates to have all of the following, but experience in one or more would be particularly valuable:

  • Experience delivering renewable-energy or energy-access projects in Sub-Saharan Africa or other emerging-market contexts.
  • Experience with mini-grids, standalone solar systems or other off-grid energy infrastructure.
  • Experience with battery-storage systems, battery swapping or distributed energy technologies.
  • Experience with productive uses of energy, such as agricultural, commercial, mobility or community applications.
  • Experience supporting installation, testing, commissioning, operation or maintenance of renewable-energy systems.
  • Experience developing bills of materials, procurement specifications or evaluating technical suppliers and equipment.
  • Experience of techno-economic modelling, tariff modelling or developing commercial/business models for decentralised energy systems.
  • Experience working with local partners and multidisciplinary or international project teams.
  • Experience with electric mobility or the integration of EVs with decentralised energy systems.
  • Experience with energy-system monitoring, smart metering, digital platforms or analysis of operational energy data.
  • Experience delivering capacity building or technical training.
  • Experience working on donor-, grant- or development-funded international energy projects.

  • Degree in Renewable Energy, Energy Systems, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or another relevant technical discipline, or equivalent professional experience.

    A postgraduate qualification in a relevant field would be advantageous but is not essential.

Flexible UK-based/home working.

International travel may be required for some projects, including travel to project sites and partner organisations.
