Propositions and Proposals Manager

At the Centre for Energy Equality, we believe that everyone
deserves access to affordable, sustainable energy. Through innovative projects and partnerships, we aim to support vulnerable communities, drive decarbonisation, and create equitable energy solutions that leave no one behind.

We are growing and looking for a talented Proposals Manager to help us secure funding for our impactful work through grants and tenders.

The Role
You will play a vital role in ensuring the sustainability and growth of CEE by writing compelling, high-quality grant applications and tender responses. Your work will directly contribute to our mission of creating energy equality and delivering measurable social value. You will also contribute to preparation of case studies, white papers and other technical and impact reporting.

Job Type
Part time (15 to 30hrs per week), Initial 18 fixed term contract, likely to extend.

  • Research and identify suitable funding opportunities from local and central government, open tenders, trusts, and foundations.
  • Write and develop grant applications that highlight the social impact of our projects and align with funding priorities.
  • Draft clear, engaging, and tailored responses to tenders, ensuring compliance with all requirements.
  • Collaborate with project teams to gather information, outcomes, and case studies to strengthen applications.
  • Preparation of case studies, white papers and other technical and impact reporting.
  • Track application deadlines, manage submissions, and maintain an organised pipeline of opportunities.
  • Stay up-to-date with funding trends, policy changes, and best practices in grant writing and tender responses.

You will have a passion for social value and sustainability.

  • Proven experience in writing successful grant applications and tender responses.
  • Excellent written communication skills with the ability to craft persuasive narratives.
  • Strong research skills to identify funding opportunities and align them with our mission.
  • Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and meet deadlines.
  • Understanding of social value, sustainability, and energy equality concepts.

Desirable Skills

  • Experience in the sustainability, energy, or social impact sectors.
  • Familiarity with funding sources such as DESNZ, Energy Network Innovation, Innovate UK, local authorities, or charitable trusts.
  • Knowledge of bid software and CRM tools.
  • Degree in relevant discipline or equivalent professional experience
  • Fully Remote, with options to attend shared office space in London, Manchester or Bristol

£30,000-£50,000 pro-rata depending on experience

Full Stack Developer

As a Full Stack Developer at CEE you will help develop scalable software solutions that deliver real benefits to global societies, ensuring that no one is left behind in the transition to green energy.

You should be comfortable around both front-end and back-end coding languages, development frameworks and third-party libraries. You should also be a team player with a knack for visual design and utility.

  • Work with development teams and product managers to ideate software solutions.

  • Design client-side and server-side architectures.

  • Build the front-end of applications with appealing user experiences.

  • Develop and manage well-functioning databases and applications

  • Write effective APIs.

  • Test software to ensure responsiveness and efficiency.

  • Troubleshoot, debug and upgrade software.

  • Create security and data protection settings

  • Write technical documentation.

  • Working using agile methodologies.

  • Working closely with our Energy Specialists, Analysts and Product Development teams.

  • Assist with research projects on an ongoing basis using data analysis, statistical analysis and modelling techniques.

  • Represent Centre for Energy Equality during project meetings and external events, promoting our work and mission.

  • Motivated and keen to learn new things.
  • Experience developing desktop and mobile applications.
  • Knowledge of common languages (e.g. dart, C#, Java, Python).
  • Experience with common frameworks (e.g. Flutter, Angular, React).
  • Familiarity with databases (e.g. firebase, MySQL, MongoDB).
  • Experience with UI/UX design.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Great attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of cloud platforms.
  • A strong knowledge of API design, development and integration.
  • Degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science or a similar engineering topic (or equivalent experience).

Flexible UK based/ home working. Travel (including internationally) may be required for specific projects.

Energy Systems Specialist (Currently Closed)

Our Projects and Innovation Team are leading a variety of exciting and valuable projects.  For example, designing a mobile solar battery system to bring  energy to rural African communities,  testing systems that can reinstate power supplies for medically vulnerable people during power cuts, and developing software that helps communities meet their net zero ambitions.

In the role of Energy Systems Specialist, you will have the opportunity to utilise your knowledge of energy systems to deliver real benefits to global societies, ensuring that no one is left behind in the transition to green energy.

  • Provide project leadership and project management support to a range of projects that relate to energy systems and the just energy transition.
  • Utilise effective project and time management skills to help meet project deadlines and budgetary targets.
  • Development of and contribution to responses to invitations to tender and funding applications.
  • Delivering high quality contributions to project work including quantitative research, analysis and other technical input as required by each project.
  • Assist with research projects on an ongoing basis using data analysis, statistical analysis and modelling techniques.
  • Contribute to high quality written materials for reports and other publications by summarising key research findings, presenting effective visualisation of data and producing well evidenced research findings.
  • Represent Centre for Energy Equality during project meetings and external events, promoting our work and mission.
  • Working closely with our Software, Analysis and Product Development teams.
  • Support new business development activities.
  • Experience working in similar or related professional role.
  • Experience of delivering projects that support the ‘just energy transition’ and vulnerable energy consumers.
  • Demonstrable, excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience of writing effective summaries of complex issues.
  • Demonstrable experience of manging complex projects within time and budgetary constraints.
  • Ability to empathise with people and situations that could contribute to inequalities in relation to energy access and services (potentially gained through lived experience of such situations).
  • Experience in advanced use of spreadsheets and Excel functions.
  • Evidence of specialisation or advanced knowledge within a relevant subject.
  • Degree in Renewable Energy, Energy Systems, Electrical Engineering or a similar topic (or equivalent experience).
  • Preferable: a Masters degree or PhD in a relevant topic

£25,000-£65,000 depending on experience
